Psalm 23:3-4
New American Standard Bible
He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness. For the sake of His name. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
When was the last time you were fearful of your shadow? But we can be fearful of a shadow. Especially when we don’t know what it is or something moving. God say’s even though we walk through the things we go through He will be there. When have we ever thought of a rod as a comfort? The rod conveys the concept of authority, power, discipline and defense of the sheep. The staff represents all that is long suffering and kind. I do not like long suffering. But we have to know that God is with us and He will protect us.
