1 Samuel 3:9-11
New American Standard Bible
And Eli said to Samuel, “Go lie down, and it shall be if He calls you, that you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. Then the Lord came and stood, and called as at the other times: “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for Your servant is listening.” Then the Lord said to Samuel, “Behold, I am going to do something in Israel, and both ears of everyone who hears about it will ring.
When was the last time you personally heard God call you? If you said that to people they would think you are crazy. But I know God can speak when He wants to. We know in this one it’s not good, but sometimes it’s good when God speaks to us. I just love the way it says God stood there as He had at other times. God cares about us so much that He will come and stand there with you. But we need to be careful that when we have been a Christian so long that we don’t forget what God sounds like. I don’t want Him to have to call me three times before I know it is Him calling me. We have to stay so close that we recognize His voice. Just because you are young in age or young in being a Christian doesn’t mean God can’t talk to you. You just have to be serving before the Lord, and He will speak. Stop long enough to listen. God be with you today.
