As part of the Assemblies of God of America, we actively support through prayer and finances, many missionaries regionally and around the world. In fact, LWC is listed among the top missionary giving churches in South Carolina. It is with joy, not pride, that we celebrate the generous hearts of our hard working church family who give so cheerfully toward the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.
Our missions efforts are built upon FOUR BIBLICAL PILLARS.
BIBLE-BASED. The Assemblies of God Fellowship is a Bible movement. Our founding leaders placed the doctrine concerning the Bible first in our Statement of Fundamental Truths. God's Word is foundational to everything we believe, preach, teach and practice. Though heaven and earth will pass away, God's Word will live forever. The unchanging instrument of the Holy Spirit and our infallible guide - God's inspired Word is the seed of the world harvest, bread for the spiritually hungry and the light that proclaims God's grace and deliverance to a world that is lost and bound in the darkness of sin.
SPIRIT-EMPOWERED. We depend on God's divine power because our mission depends on miracles. As Pentecostals, we know that just preaching and publishing the message is not enough. Hearts must be opened. Lives must be changed. The Church must be established. These can only be established by God himself. The Holy Spirit imparts spiritual gifts and abilities to God's messengers. And the same Holy Spirit that inspired God's Holy Word illumines its truth to the minds of hearers and opens their hearts to respond to its message. We totally rely on the Holy Spirit to give life to the message we preach and to cause growth from the seed we sow. The Spirit convinces of sin, brings assurance of sins forgiven, imparts peace through understanding, and guides into all truth. A Pentecostal mission acknowledges and depends on the Holy Spirit to empower our message so it can bear the fruit God has promised.
CHRIST-CENTERED. The focus of the Pentecostal message is Jesus Christ. John the Baptist proclaimed Him the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! Jesus... God who became man, showing us the character of our Creator and Heavenly Father, is the Redeemer of lost humanity the Savior of the whole world. He offered up His life to redeem sinful mankind. Only through Him do we have peace with God. After a sinless life, He rose from death that whoever believes in Him could have everlasting life. He is preparing a place for us and He has promised to come again for us so we can be with Him for eternity. Missionary Richard Bernhard Johnson saw more than 1.8 million come forward for salvation in crusades in Brazil. When asked what he believed accounted for the great numbers who responded he replied, "I always exalt Jesus Christ! Our message to this lost, sinful world is like that of the missionary apostle Paul, none other than Christ, and Him crucified."
ALL THE CHURCH. The entire church is mobilized in our worldwide mission. Believers of all ages make missions faith promises. And our men, women, teenagers and children supply our missionaries with literature, vehicles, equipment and household goods through Light for the Lost, Women's Ministries, Speed the Light and BGMC.
ALL THE GOSPEL. What God promised to the New Testament church is still promised to the church today. The Pentecostal message proclaims salvation by grace alone through faith, the baptism in the Holy Spirit, divine healing, and the literal, imminent return of Jesus Christ.
ALL THE WORLD. To be truly Pentecostal is to believe both Jesus' command to reach the whole world and His promise that we will receive the Holy Spirit's power to accomplish the task (Acts 1:8). Our early leaders were compelled by the Spirit to obey our Lord's command to "go ... into all the world, and preach the gospel" (Mark 16:15).
